Callsong
Privacy
Effective September 12, 2026. Applies to the Callsong app for iPhone and the website at callsong.app.
The short version
Callsong listens to you sing so it can tell you which notes landed. That listening happens on your phone or in your browser. Your voice is not recorded, not stored, and not sent anywhere. There is no account, no sign-in, and no advertising. The website counts its visitors. The app keeps a record of what you bought, if you buy anything, and nothing else.
The microphone
When you sing a phrase back, the app measures the pitch of your voice in real time and draws it on the screen next to the phrase you heard. The audio is analyzed as it arrives and discarded as it goes. Nothing is written to a file, and nothing leaves the device. You can revoke microphone access at any time in Settings. Without it the lessons cannot hear you, so the app shows a short note with a link back to Settings instead of a lesson.
What stays on your device
The app keeps a small amount of information about your practice so it can pick up where you left off: your vocal range and home note, the key and difficulty of your lessons, the stars you have earned, and a log of past sessions. All of it lives on your phone, in the app's own storage. It is never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes it, and the Home screen has an “Erase all data” control that wipes it and starts the app over.
On the website, the same information is kept in your browser's local storage and never sent to a server.
Purchases
Some lessons in the iPhone app are for patrons. Apple handles the payment, and we use RevenueCat to keep track of what you bought and to tell the app that your lessons are open. RevenueCat sees your purchase history and an anonymous app user id it makes up for your install. It never sees your name or your email address, because the app never asks for either. The singing side is unchanged. Your voice and everything the app works out from it stay on the phone, same as always.
What the app does not do
The iPhone app contains no analytics or tracking software and shows no ads. Apart from the purchase record above, it collects no personal information, and there is nothing else to sell or share, because nothing else leaves the phone.
The website
callsong.app counts its visitors with two tools. Google Analytics 4 sets a cookie named _ga so it can tell one browser from another, and it reports to Google which pages were viewed, the page that linked here, the browser and device type, and a rough location worked out from the network address. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without a cookie. Neither tool can hear the microphone, and neither sees your range, your notes, or anything else the singing tools measure; that stays in your browser. A content blocker stops both and the site still works. We do not sell what they count and we do not use it for advertising.
Children
Callsong is made for anyone who wants to sing, including children. The app asks for no name and no email address, from a child or from anyone else. The website's visitor counting applies to everyone who opens it; it records no name, no email address, and nothing typed or sung.
Changes
If a future version of the app starts handling any data differently, for example to support purchases, this page will say so in plain language before that version ships.
